Program
Credits 4.0

“Failing Schools, Frustrated Nation” and “Who’s to Blame for America’s Failing Schools” – these headlines are two examples of how the media portrays American education. But what do these headlines really mean? What is the purpose of these headlines and how is our perception of education formed through media depictions? How can we decipher what is true, a partial truth, or a whole lie when it comes to American schools? This course will explore how education is portrayed through a wide range of media, including film, journalism, podcasts, social media, and others. Perhaps the truth about education may be overshadowed by the pursuit of clicks and views…
