Gender and Women's Studies Certificate in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

The diversity studies certificate is interdisciplinary, focused on complementing and enhancing students’ course of study and career readiness. Students complete coursework across the three organizing categories – at least one course per category and from different disciplines – and an experiential learning component that reflects the intersection of all three categories. Students must limit selection to one course from their major. Students who wish to pursue the certificate should contact the Gender and Women’s Studies coordinator.

Internship or Research Experience (2-4 credit hours)

An internship or research experience (2-4 credits) that allows students to gain experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion with the academic component having students apply relevant texts, topics, and theories to their practical work. For example, the Impact Internship Program, offered through the Center for Engagement, Inclusion, and Belonging Office, offers flexible credit hours and fulfills this requirement. Projects should be approved by the GWS committee.
