Political Science courses are designed to give students an understanding of government and politics, political behavior, and public policy in the US and around the world. Students become experts in American and international political institutions and they develop the skills necessary for civic leadership and global citizenship. Our courses prepare students for government service and careers in law, journalism, electoral politics, and teaching. Political Science majors must complete a minimum of 36 semester hours (nine courses) in the discipline, including PO 101 and PO 150 or PO 180. Students must complete the major in Political Science with a GPA of 2.0 or better for courses in the discipline. No courses in which a student earns below a 'C-' will be counted as meeting the major course requirements.
