If a student has a complaint resulting from distance education courses, activities, and operations, the student should follow the process outline below:
- Initial responsibility for the investigation and resolution of complaints resides within Illinois College. To formally submit a complaint, go to https://www.ic.edu/academics/OLcomplaintform and describe the complaint or issue.
- The Office of Academic Affairs will respond to the complaint within 2 business days. The Office of Academic Affairs is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. central standard time, Monday through Friday. The Office of Academic Affairs will be closed on official school holidays.
- If a student bringing a complaint is not satisfied by the response from the Office of Academic Affairs, the complaint (except for complaints about grades or student conduct violations) may be appealed, within two years of the incident about which the complaint is made, to Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE).
- The Illinois Board of Higher Education. IBHE has the responsibility and authority to resolve complaints against Illinois institutions. Students may file a complaint with the IBHE via the online complaint system.
The National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA) policy and process regarding the complaint process can be found at their website: https://nc-sara.org/resources/sara-policy-manual-242.
