Public Safety

Campus safety and security procedures are coordinated by the Office of Public Safety, consisting of an Executive Director and five full-time officers. The officers are non-sworn officers but utilize citizen’s arrest authority on the rare occasion when a situation requires an immediate detention.

Public Safety officers currently conduct foot and vehicle patrols of the campus 24 hours a day when school is in session. The officers enforce all regulations and laws on campus of both the College and the state of Illinois. The College has a good working relationship with the Jacksonville Police Department, who assist with incidents that may occur on or near campus. Illinois College enforces regulations concerning underage drinking, the use of controlled substances and weapons.
