Grounded in a political-economics approach, this course examines the definition of green crime, the historical development of green criminology, major areas of green criminological research, and potential future developments. Accordingly, green criminology draws attention to the ways in which political-economic organization of U.S. Society causes ecological destruction and disorganization. Focusing on real-world issues of green crime and environmental justice, this course examines ecological withdrawals, ecological additions, toxic towns/sites, wildlife poaching and trafficking, environmental justice, environmental laws and regulations, enforcement and compliance, and more.
