Major

Elementary Education Major - Online

Program

The Online Elementary Education Major prepares future teachers to effectively serve students in grades 1 through 6 in Illinois schools.  Grounded in the Illinois Professional Educator Standards and evidence-based instructional practices, this fully online program provides a flexible pathway for students who have already completed a minimum of 30 undergraduate credit hours and have at least one year of classroom-related experience. Candidates will develop strong content knowledge, skills in lesson design and assessment, and the ability to create inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments. The program includes required clinical field experiences and student teaching in an approved elementary school setting. Students are required to complete Illinois College general education requirements, Education major coursework (with a C- or better), all state-mandated clinical experiences and a passing score on their Content Test before receiving their Professional Educator License (PEL).
